Senator Cynthia Lummis has set an ambitious timeline for two pivotal cryptocurrency bills, aiming for the CLARITY Act and GENIUS Act to reach the president’s desk by 2026. The legislation seeks to clarify stablecoin regulation and market structure, with the CLARITY Act nearing a full House vote and the GENIUS Act advancing to the House after Senate approval.

Bipartisan support remains a hurdle. Lummis acknowledged concerns about potential administrative favoritism, emphasizing the need for inclusive drafting. Only 18 Democrats backed the GENIUS Act in June, while others demand scrutiny of former President Trump’s crypto ties before endorsing any bills.
